WEST Course: Wave Energy Conversion

LCRI’s WEST project will soon be launching Wave Energy Conversion, the first of their Marine energy courses.

This course, will be delivered via blended learning, with a combination of on-line and face-to-face sessions. It has been designed by the LCRI’s Marine team based in Swansea University, and is aimed at individuals interested in expanding their knowledge of the Marine energy industry.

Wave Energy Conversion is a 10 credit CPD module, accredited to level 4 of the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. The course is fully funded for people living or working within Welsh Convergence areas.

The course will provide an introduction to the different types of ocean energy, wave power as an energy resource, the global wave energy resources, and the different types of wave energy converter devices. It will also include information about current wave energy converter technology design considerations, and the evaluation of wave energy resources.

Gareth Potter from the LCRI’s Marine team said ” This short course will give participants the  knowledge and insight into the latest advances within marine energy and the future of the industry. Marine energy has a massive potential and the industry in Wales is expanding at a fantastic rate. This course is a great opportunity for people working in this field, or looking to move into Marine energy, to improve their knowledge and skill set. “
