I have been instrumental in developing this project and have a broad network of experience and knowledge in the field of sustainability in the context of Wales. I will deliver overall direction and promotion of WEST Project. Since 2005, I have been involved in training and education in the built environment and low carbon fields, including the delivery of a previous WEST project that brought together the same partners who are working together again now. I also lead the Welsh School of Architecture MSc in Sustainable Design and am the director of the Built Environment Sustainability Training (BEST) programme, an ESF funded sister project to WEST (www.best.cf.ac.uk).

Since 2002, I’ve been involved in research relating to low carbon built environment, solar energy and development of sustainable hydrogen. During the same time period I’ve contributed to the MSc courses based at the Welsh School of Architecture and have recently become the Membership and Education Officer to the local branch of the Energy Institute. These experiences have brought home to me the importance of research dissemination and the value of training in facilitating research implementation. Much of this work has been interdisciplinary and I value the benefits of bringing together various points of view.
