Professor Stuart Irvine

Prof. Stuart Irvine is director of the Centre for Solar Energy Research (CSER) at Glyndŵr University’s OpTIC centre in St. Asaph North Wales. He has over 30 years of experience in compound semiconductors, working for government, industry and in academia and published over 160 refereed papers and book chapters. His research interests have included infrared detector materials, new techniques in Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition (MOCVD), in situ process monitoring and solar energy materials. He led the PV SUPERGEN research consortium that pioneered new approaches to high efficiency thin film photovoltaic (PV) materials and devices and is Director of the LCRI SPARC industrial research project. Professor Irvine is a Chartered Physicist and is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP) and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM).


Dr Charles Shelton

Charles has over 25 years experience in materials, analytical and environmental science. During this period, he has managed multiple large research and development and commercial projects within various technical groups as a senior consultant in Shell Global Solutions. This has included the management of programme, budgets, activities, people and the communication and reporting of progress, in particular: (i) the management of a major environmental data collection exercise in Japan from over 2000 retail sites, involving implementation of a web-based data collection system; (ii) the development, acquisition of funding and management of technical service delivery for simultaneous management of multiple highly time constrained due diligence investigations.
